Importance
The Süfera Salonus, also known as the Hall of Ambassadors, in the Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, holds significant historical and cultural importance. This hall was used for diplomatic receptions and important state ceremonies, symbolizing the Ottoman Empire’s openness to the Western world in the 19th century. Its splendid design and furnishings, blending European and Ottoman elements, reflect the idea of merging modern Western concepts with traditional Ottoman culture. The hall served as a venue for meetings with foreign ambassadors and dignitaries, underscoring its central role in the diplomacy and foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire. Today, the Süfera Salonus is an integral part of the Dolmabahçe Palace and attracts numerous visitors as a historic attraction.

The restoration and conservation concept for the Süfera Hall and adjacent rooms, conceived in 2017, was approved by the Scientific and Evaluation Council of the National Palaces in December 2017 and is being implemented. These restoration and conservation works are carried out by teams and working groups of the National Palaces. January 2018 – December 2019 under the leadership of Jörg Breitenfeldt on behalf of the National Palaces.
